About Frank Milletts sui generis Family Tree
Céad Míle Fáilte**THE MILLETT FAMILY TREE,
All credits must go to my Father James Millett who planted this tree

Hi, My name is Francis Thomas Millett,

My Father JAMES MILLETT was born in Killusty at the foot of the Slievenamon mountains, Tipperary, The family then moved to St Johnstown when he was about 3 years old after his Grandfather died

click here THE MILLETT FAMILY HOME
Which is described as a modern house in 1837 is still standing and remains in the family although it is now derelict. My Father and Mother came to England in 1956 where I was born. My Father returned to Ireland and lived in Killenaule until his death in 1998. During our Holiday visits he regaled me with many a story about "Our rich ancestors" Grand houses, and owning a Castle!
Click here St. Johnstown Castle . It was built approximately 1500 AD by the Normans and judging by the coat of arms over the main entrance, it was built by Robert St. John. This plaque above the main entrance is about 2 feet square with the coat of arms in the centre surrounded with writing around the outer edge. It reads:- Robert De Sero Johe Ons De Cualeagh Lismoynan Scandanstown Et socius Ill uis Plebis Fecit.Which means in short:- Lord of Cooleagh Lismortagh Scadanstown and the people. The walls of the castle are still in rather good condition considering the roof was removed many years ago by James Millett who lived there at the time. I understand that it was removed in order to cut down the payment due in rates. The castle is approximately 65 feet in height, and originally consisted of 5 floors. All that remains today is the second floor.
There is even a story about lighting a pipe with an olde white Fiver, I now knowmost if not all he told me was TRUE even about having a direct linage to Lords and Ladies and various Nobility, Following my Fathers death in 1998 a Family Tree he had managed to draw up himself was found at his home in Killenaule, It is remarkably accurate and without the aid of the Internet would have taken a lot of endevour. I have managed to expand the Tree but there was a large population of Milletts in the 18/19 Century and most were called Thomas, Matthew or Richard !! However, work is on going and more leaves are been added with your help. I have Files of Information just waiting for some small link to join them up if you think you can help PLEASE get in touch.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery,

What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.

Send me an email
Welcome to all you Milletts,

and to ALL my relatives no matter how many times removed you may be.

Any information on Millett, King, Hayden,Hunt, Coady, or indeed any family contained within this tree would be greatly appreciated
